Everything starts somewhere!

Unfurling
An Unfurling Fern – just a small beginning…..

If you are trying to make changes, to start a new project, to give up a bad habit, to become a better person or whatever, but you are feeling discouraged because progress seems to be so slow, then this is for you…….

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin” (Zechariah 4 v 10)

Climbing a mountain can seem daunting but it is less so if you realise that all you need to focus on is the next step. Global warming seems daunting but every can or bottle you recycle is a little step towards making an improvement. It is so easy to be overwhelmed by the challenge but remember, even though a staircase might look high, it is only a series of small steps. Just take them one at a time.

The fact is, you can make changes and you will make changes even though at times it might seem impossible. Just keep going in small steps and be encouraged by the verse above as you do.

Small beginnings are still beginnings, so rejoice!

Be blessed and thanks for reflecting with me.

  1. Thankyou for sharing these words Terry. They are of help to Andy and myself. We never thought we could ever do the Cotswold Way as both of us has had walking difficulties. Today I thought of your blog while we were walking towards Prospect Hill. We just do little bits at a time. I could hear your words just think of the next step and stopped thinking about ahead! Much more pleasurable!

    1. Ah, thanks Annie, I’m so glad that you were encouraged by this post. I had a ‘mantra’ that I repeated to myself when backpacking the Pembroke Coast Path nearing the end of long days when tiredness had set in – I just kept repeating to myself, ‘One foot in front of the other gets you there’, as I walked. Be blessed and keep putting one foot in front of the other. Terry
